Untold Stories
Excerpt:
I was a 16-year-old, innocent, but troubled kid when I walked into Angola, the bloodiest prison in America.
When I walked back out 9,125 days later, I was a solid man with a purpose.
This is my story.
On my first day at Angola, as the bars slammed shut in my face and the demented eyes of prisoners and guards stared at me, I realized that I would die inside that hell hole, if I didn't fight for my life every day.
I had to be as strong or stronger than all the other Angola prisoners. I had to protect myself from getting beaten, raped or killed.
I had no one to count on or trust, except myself and my God.
His angels were with me,
and I grabbed onto their wings.
The Angels lifted me from my cell and flew me to a high place, a spiritual place high above the prison grounds to a place where I discovered the secrets of real manhood.
In my book I will reveal those secrets to you.
THE SECRETS THAT KEPT ME ALIVE
AND SET ME FREE.

Police Brutality Ends this Way:
A Black Journalist Reveals Solutions
Guaranteed to Change Police Behavior
I made two promises in the title of this book. The first promise will be easy to fulfill, but the second one, not so much.
First, I promised to present the ideas of a Black journalist. That’s easy, because I am a Black journalist. I’ve been a Black journalist for more than 50 years.
Now, for the hard part: My second promise was to reveal solutions guaranteed to change police behavior.
I’ll start fulfilling that commitment right now by sharing with you
one of my strongest solutions.
If this solution had been in effect on Saturday night, January 7, 2023 in Memphis, TN, it would have prevented police officers from covering up their acts of misconduct,
which they started doing immediately after severely beating their unarmed victim, a Black man named Tyre Nichols.
I envisioned this solution while I was lying down on a beautiful, sunny September day in Washington, D.C. However, I was not enjoying a calm moment of reflection.
I was traumatized, lying face down in an alley with my hands cuffed tightly behind my back.
A group of White police officers had ganged up on me. They had kicked me; punched my back and head with their forearms and fists;
shoved me and then tripped me, which caused me to fall face-forward
like a tree cut down in a forest.
Also like a tree, I had no arms or hands, for all practical purposes,
since they were bound behind me.
The officers arrested me on fake charges, alleging that I had led them on a reckless, high-speed chase in my brand-spanking new, sparkling black-on-black Porsche.
The allegation that I was fleeing the police was not only a lie. It was also an insult, for I have never run from anything nor anyone
in my life—be they a police officer
or a playground bully.
Call me brave, arrogant or whatever you want. But don’t call me a crazy person who would recklessly speed through a crowded city, endanger the public, and possibly crash his beautiful and delicate car.
Stalked by a White Cop
My encounter with the police started quietly on a Thursday morning . . .

We MUST fix it.""

The above qoutes illustrate the conscientious and thought-provoking words John Lewis spoke inside the Capitol for an amazing 30 years in office.

THE JOHN LEWIS MOMENT OF CONSCIENCE
Congressman Lewis is gone, but in a world swirling with controversy and division, his powerful words can still invoke a spirit of unity and peace.
His body is buried, but his conscientious words should live forever in the House chamber, where he worked and earned the honorary title, The Conscience of the Congress.
This website promotes a Change.org petition that calls for Congress, during their morning ceremonies, to devote one minute in honor of John Lewis. During that minute, to be officially called "The John Lewis Moment of Conscience," his words or the uplifting words of other Representatives, Senators or constituents should be read.
